The Clark Fork River is the largest river in the state of Montana. It is 360 miles long and feeds the Columbia River from western Montana and northern Idaho.
Glaciers still exist in my home area. I had been up to the top of a mountain just over the border in Idaho and got to see the 20 foot thick piece of ice that has been there for 15,000 years. Since I live 4 miles from Idaho, the state borders were not a consideration that long ago. It was all part of Lake Missoula. Glacial Lake Missoula was the size of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie combined. The plug in the bathtub so to speak, was located right where I live in Heron Montana. When the ice sheet plug melted away, the lake drained through the valley there and formed Lake Pend Oreille.
